Reasonable Adjustments Policy

1. Introduction

Langley Medical Practice is committed to ensuring that every patient can access our services safely, comfortably, and without unnecessary barriers. In line with the Equality Act 2010 and NHS England guidance, we provide reasonable adjustments for patients who may have disabilities, long‑term conditions, sensory impairments, learning disabilities, or any other need that requires additional support.

2. What are Reasonable Adjustments?

Reasonable adjustments are changes we make to our policies, procedures, communication methods, or physical environment to ensure that patients who need extra support can access our services equitably. These adjustments are tailored to each person’s individual needs. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • providing information in alternative formats,
  • arranging interpreters,
  • offering longer or quieter appointments,
  • supporting mobility needs,
  • allowing a carer to accompany the patient, and
  • ensuring staff are aware of communication preferences.

3. How to request a Reasonable Adjustment

Patients, carers, or advocates can request reasonable adjustments by:

  • speaking with a member of our staff,
  • calling the practice,
  • submitting an online request, or
  • indicating their needs on the registration form.

With consent, adjustment details are added to medical records to ensure proactive support at future appointments.

4. Commitment from Langley Medical Practice

Our team is committed to treating every patient with dignity, responding promptly to adjustment requests, making reasonable adjustments wherever practicable, providing staff training, and regularly reviewing this policy to remain compliant with NHS and legal requirements.
